Material compatibility should be evaluated before production. Temperature, pressure and pressing time vary according to the fabric, coating, transfer paper, film, adhesive and ink system.
A standard dye-sublimation process is normally associated with polyester or suitably coated materials. Natural fibres should not be described as directly sublimation-compatible unless the selected coating or transfer process supports them.

Start with the item being pressed and the transfer method. Tell the supplier whether you use sublimation paper, heat-transfer vinyl, DTF film or another system.
The machine must be evaluated together with the required temperature, pressing time and pressure. A model should not be selected from the product name alone.
Choose a platen that can cover the artwork and the flat pressing area of the item. Do not select a machine based only on the overall size of the garment or product.
The 380 × 380 mm format may suit smaller graphics. The 400 × 500 mm and 400 × 600 mm formats provide more space for larger artwork and longer pieces.
A standard clamshell machine opens vertically and can require less surrounding movement than a swing-away structure.
A swing-away model gives the operator more open access to the lower platen, but it also needs sufficient side clearance. A pull-out lower platen can make item positioning more accessible.
For occasional work, samples or shorter runs, a manual clamshell configuration may provide the required workflow.
For repeated loading and pressing, a double-station model allows one item to be prepared while the other station is in use. Actual output still depends on the operator, transfer cycle, item preparation and production layout.
Garments and thin cut pieces have different loading requirements from thicker flat products. Provide the material type and approximate thickness so the platen clearance and pressure arrangement can be checked.

A clamshell heat press has an upper heated platen that lifts away from a flat lower platen. The item and transfer material are positioned on the lower platen before controlled heat, time and pressure are applied.
It can be considered for compatible flat sublimation transfers. Suitability depends on the substrate, coating, transfer paper, ink and required process settings. Confirm these conditions before selecting a model.
A heat press is used in many DTF workflows, but the required temperature, pressure and pressing sequence depend on the film, powder, ink and garment. Provide your consumable requirements so the selected machine can be evaluated for the process.
CH-M is the standard manual clamshell configuration. CH-S uses a swing-away structure and a pull-out lower platen, providing more access to the loading area.
A manual clamshell press uses one working area. The CH-D series provides two stations, allowing the operator to prepare an item at one station while the other station is being used.
Measure the largest artwork and the flat pressing area of the item. Choose a platen that covers the transfer without forcing seams, zippers or other raised components into the pressing area.
It is normally selected for individual flat items or cut pieces. Continuous roll-to-roll fabric production is better evaluated against a rotary heat press.
